Am i blind or is there no ingame tutorial? The handbook is not very helpful in explaining HOW to play the game and the first minutes of the campaign are more than cryptic.
What the hell am i supposed to do? And especially, HOW?
Actually, the campaign is supposed to be a tutorial. Not sure how well that worked out, though.

There is no tutorial in the campaign at all. It's pretty bad.
I had to "replay" over and over until I started understanding.
Well ... not very good, i can tell you. And i AM an experienced strategy gamer But the days, where i spent hours on Civilization 1, while reading the very good and informative (!) manual to learn the game, are over. I'm all for complex games and deep, rich gameplay with lots of things and strategies to discover and explore, but NOT explaining basic handling of the interface and game does not help at all. Ingame tutorials do NOT dumb down a game
Thnx very much! But not that helpful. Mostly mumbling in the micro and uncommented clicking, hoping the player will watch carefully. Even then, why are these videos not IN the game.
Ok then, let's wait for the coming weekend, when i hopefully have enough time to uncover basic gameplay ... thnx again. Not your fault
Had I not participated in the Beta I think I would have been totally lost too. Not that I played the Beta a ton, as it was even worse than the final game (not that the final game is bad, but as I've mentioned before, it is far from accessible).
Elemental needs a good tutorial, a more complete manual, and more complete in-game help.
I’m an experienced strategy gamer, I started with civ 1 when I was 13 or something.
I played and conquest won one sandbox game (AArgh the choppiness) but besides the performance issues on my PC that plays other games just fine, and the oblivious AI….
I quite easily got the hang of the food, resources, growing, magic, building, tech, spell research play style…. But someone new to the 4x genre should have something like an ingame tutorial I suppose.
I have to say i havent found anything that too kme too long to figure out but i can see some things can be quite tricky to work out.
I would say the best thing to do, until something better comes along, is to ask questions in the forum. Wait for answers and once you know what your doing, enjoy the game.
